Black-owned businesses have historically experienced discriminatory financing practices throughout history due to racial biases, company size, and geographical location. When the pandemic hit it amplified these issues with less than 2% of PPP loans being reportedly awarded to Black-owned businesses during the pandemic.
Realizing the disproportionate effects the Pandemic had on Black-and-minority small businesses accessing capital, Fiverv launched the #Back2Business Grant Program.
The Fiserv + Clover Back2Business Grant Program provides grants of up to $10,000 to eligible Black- or minority-owned owned small businesses. The program is in partnership with the Association of Enterprise Opportunity (AEO). Fiserv has committed $50 million to help small, diverse-owned businesses through grants, coaching, and access to technology and networking.
Surthrive is honored to be selected as one of the Black-owned businesses that received a $10k grant as a part of the Fiserv + Clover Back2Business Grant Program!
These funds will go towards expanding Surthrive’s capacity to support more underserved businesses through existing projects and new partnerships by hiring a new Administrative Assistant.
